Instances of Molly being forward or assertive:

  • Asks Sherlock out for coffee the first time we meet her.
  • Deliberately introduces Jim to Sherlock hoping to make him jealous (Loo said she thought it was why Molly dated Jim and I’m inclined to agree) and tells Sherlock off after he says Jim is gay.
  • Brings Sherlock a gift with an overtly affectionate gift tag. Calls him on it when he’s really mean.
  • Asks Sherlock what he’s up to when he’s xraying Irene’s phone, pointedly re: a girlfriend
  • Asserts she has a lunch date when Sherlock pushes her to help him in TRF (she only concedes and helps him after he reveals her ex-bf is involved)
  • Reaches out to Sherlock and shares a personal story with him, unprompted, when she sees him hurting somehow, even though Sherlock is a bit standoffish as usual.

In almost every scene of Molly Hooper’s, she shows assertiveness, though in her own cute and gentle way. It just annoys me when people think her being forward is out of character. She isn’t very passive at all.

Yep.  She’s awkward (around Sherlock, anyway), but not at all passive.
