My sutures tell a story, if you read them correctly. It’s a bit like a palm, I suppose, or wrinkles in papery skin. Come close, and I’ll whisper it to you. You will wonder how my lipless mouth forms plosives, or how I can drip words without a tongue to birth them. But then you will forget these things, as you’ll forget we met. Because that’s what people do when they retreat to the confines of logic.

The living can be so dull.

So, I’m having a hard time explaining to you how much I love thescienceofobsession‘s fic, Architectonics.  It is unspeakably gorgeous, and gentle, and one of my favorite things ever.  Intimate, lush, eerie, deeply sensual, loving, sweetly macabre.  It’s more like poetry than prose, and it captures, better than anything I have ever encountered, the sensual tension between the messy hot-blooded carnality of life, and the cold clean elegance of death.  And how, in a fashion, Sherlock is pulled between those two things.

And in her podfic, she reads it with a beautiful, smoky voice and subtle emotion that flickers between longing, pride, and disdain, and it sounds exactly how the narrator sounded in my head when I first read the story.

I really can’t listen to podfic, most of the time.  I find it terribly distracting.  But this one is a work of art.  And also I hadn’t recced this story yet, which needed to happen before God struck me down with a lightning bolt for my crime.
