#a family portrait

Oh my god, that’s adorable.  So Elementary based their living room set off the Granada series too?

All the Brett love. <3

You know, we’re watching Holmes history being made right before our eyes.  I know that’s a small thing in the fabric of the world, but with Sherlock and Elementary both taking the layout of the Granada set, with the bookcases and two chairs framing the fireplace, it’s quickly engraving that image into an enduring iconic place in Holmesian history.  And that’s just cool. 🙂

Other things too.  Lines like, “Come if convenient.  If inconvenient, come anyway,” and its adorable echo in the RDJ movie.  Characters like Joan.  She’s not the first female Watson, but she’s the first to make a real impact on the cultural consciousness.  And people don’t get that she, with her gender- and race-swap, with the way they turns out not to damage the narrative or the legendary friendship at all, is telling us, “It doesn’t matter what race or gender you are.  This is a story for YOU.”

It’s a good time to be a Holmes fan.  And you know what?  With all the groundwork being laid by the creative work in these shows and movies, in 20 years it’ll be an even better time. 🙂
