And something about me. Once I helped a pregnant lady who was going into labor on a bus in the middle of nowhere North Dakota/Minnesota. Thankfully we got to the paramedics before there were any serious complications. Favorite place you’ve ever visited?
Wow, piskie, that is amazing!
My favorite place… You know, funnily enough, for all the places I’ve been since I think the place that sticks with me the most is this one natural park we hiked when I was a kid in 4-H. It was called Kettle Creek, and it was a valley surrounding the headwaters of a small river. The whole area was as untouched as they could manage to keep it. People were allowed to hike and camp, but there was only a minimal access road for park rangers and emergency services.
We hiked five miles in and camped overnight, and swam in a creek so clean that you could drink the water, and then hiked five miles back out the next day. The second day, it was pouring rain the entire day, and while it was kind of uncomfortable, the woods in the rain were stunningly beautiful and ethereal.
So maybe that was more of a specific event, but places include times really, don’t they? Often, when you go back to your favorite place, it’s not really there anymore the way it used to be.
I’ve never been back to Kettle Creek, so in my mind it’s still just the same.
