Job hunting, gahhhhhh I hope something comes your way soon! 1. Parrots! That’s so fun! What are their names? 2. Wow I think it’s awesome that you’re volunteering for AO3! How did you come to be doing that? We should all have a giant friendly chat someday!

Lucky is a quaker parakeet (technically a parakeet is any small parrot with a long tail; not just budgies), and Jamaica is a nanday conure.  Here’s a picture of them being ridic cute (their default state):

The gray-faced one on the perch is Lucky, the black-faced one on the cage is Jamaica.  Fun fact: Lucky sometimes calls me by name when she wants me.  Or at least an approximation of my name.  She’s not good at pronouncing the ‘J.’

Well, actually I’m volunteering for the OTW (Organization for Transformative Works) which is the parent organization that operates AO3, along with other projects.  The OTW puts out calls for volunteers when its various committees are looking for people.  I like their work, had some free time and needed to keep my skills in, so replied to one, and they emailed me back a couple of weeks later asking about setting up a meeting if I was still interested. ^_^

They have a bunch of social media platforms where they post links, but since we’re on Tumblr, it’s probably easiest to point you to the TransformativeWorks Tumblr.  If you’re interested in volunteering, just keep an eye out, and most likely something will come round sooner or later.  🙂  They take a vast range of skills and experience: everything from legal, financial, policy wonks and marketing to writers, artists, and videographers, to coders, sysadmins and network admins.

ACTUALLY if any of you folks are good at graphics or video and you’re inclined to pick up a personal project, let me know and I’ll pass the word on!

We should have a giant friendly chat.  I ought to livestream more.  I always feel so self-conscious about it, but it’s such a great way to meet people.
