thespanishcockerel asked prettyarbitrary:
*waves shyly at the cool kids sitting at the cool kids’ table* Whew, it’s a bit like school, isn’t it? Except the ‘cool’ kids at school and I never had a thing to say to each other. The fandom denizens I most admire are the ones who blend self-awareness and a sense of perspective with love, respect, creativity and shameless unrestrained who-gives-a-fuck fanliness. Bless. (And it’s ok if you post this.) (And I adore Serviceman. *kehe*)
Hi, Cockerel! You’re another one I see bopping around on my dash. ^_^ It’s so cool to hear from you!
I admire those fandom denizens the most, too. My dash is largely populated with them, and I love it. I know some people have a lot of stress from Tumblr, but for me it’s a daily boost to see all these awesome, caring, creative folks kicking around on here. For a small assortment of people who will make you laugh and boost your flagging opinion of humanity, check out:
- hiddenlacuna
- otterondeck (she’s lapotter on AO3, and writes beautiful stories like Synthesis)
- marsdaydream (lifeonmars on AO3, and also a brilliant writer)
- teahigh (teahigh on AO3, and she writes the most gorgeously sad things, but she is such a sweet, insightful uplifting person)
- random-nexus
Actually all of these ladies are gentle, insightful, intelligent and uplifting people. Hearing form any of them never fails to put a smile on my face, and they don’t get crowds the way some of the higher-profile fandom folks do, so if you ever want to drop them a line and tell them I sent you, I’m sure they’ll be pleased to hear from you!
Oh but HEY HANG ON A MINUTE I just stopped by your Tumblr and YOU ARE THE AUTHOR OF THE MAGIC MIRROR AND THE SEA DRAGON. Augh, I love that story! Ooooo, you have been sneakily lurking about here, pretending to be a quiet, innocuous not-an-awesome-writer person. ^_^
