Men grow up expecting to be the hero of their own story. Women grow up expecting to be the supporting actress in somebody else’s… I refuse to burn my energy adding extra magic and sparkle to other people’s lives to get them to love me. I’m busy casting spells for myself.

And oh, this startles, shocks and pisses people off. The looks on their faces when I don’t naturally agree with their conclusions, or tell them ‘no, I’m busy.’ They don’t even know they’re thinking it—“What do you MEAN you’re not here for my benefit?”—but it’s plain as day on their faces.
