guys
(PA’s note: spoilers below the cut!)
the nurse says “maybe he just wasn’t as keen as i was but… i just thought… he’d at least call to say we’re finished”
and then this is sherlock’s face
he empathizes because literally the entirety of the nurse’s monologue is sherlock and john relating what she is saying silently to their own relationship – dinner, conversation, the instant connection – and then she says that about him not being as keen as she was and sherlock’s face… breaks. he looks devastated
and in the second one he’s prodding at his face like “what the fuck is happening, stop this, no”
(i also believe there is a shot of john while the nurse is talking about the relationship turning sour but i don’t remember and don’t have the presence of mind to go look)
and then dashes off to a crime scene as if to distract himself, seeing as they’ve just been flirting so flagrantly before they were interrupted and then on the sofa he’d just had his hand on john’s back, something he hurriedly corrects when the nurse starts talking about sex
look at his guiLTY CHILD FACE JESUS CHRIST I’VE SAID THIS A THOUSUAND TIMES TODAY
anyway, he stands up and runs off to the crime scene, completely inebriated, as if to escape the conversation. john, who’s nearly dozed off again, mumbles “i’m there if you want me” in his sleep
Here’s where John says, “I’m there if you want me.”
Also I wasn’t sure whether that was Sherlock’s guilty face or if he’d just discovered he couldn’t feel his lips. Possibly both. But it’s adorable how he and John are both so visibly reliving their first date case in this scene.
BUT SERIOUSLY.
“he’d at least call to say we’re finished”
And then Sherlock makes that face.
NOW think again about my ‘John thinks Sherlock doesn’t need him anymore’ theory.
What I’m saying is that Sherlock just realized that JOHN THINKS SHERLOCK LEFT HIM BEHIND.
