I used the term because I’m from Germany where you distinguish between “Mord” (kill s.o. with malicious intent, requires planning beforehand/trying to hide the deed afterwards) and “Totschlag” (intentional homicide usually in the heat of the moment) which resulted in “manslaughter” according to wikipedia.
