I once stood at a bus stop in Durban while two young, drunk men murmured sexually explicit threats and promises to a young woman standing next to me. It was just the four of us – the woman being threatened, me, and the two perpetrators.
A really great, gets-to-the-point article that purports to be on butt-hurt, but is really about how a lifetime of being treated like crap results in what turn out to be well-earned explosions of rage.
(On Chuck Wendig’s Facebook, this has turned into a discussion about anger, explosions, and dialogue that has hit on some interesting points. Namely, that sometimes blowing up into a screaming fit is entirely called-for, either due to somebody else’s douchity or the extreme pressure over stupidity you’ve built up. When it becomes a mess is when the screaming fit and attempts at rational arguments start happening in the same place.)
