Just to clear something up about the German translation: “Sag’ ruhig ‘Du’ zu mir.” Does not translate to “Say ‘du’ to me quietly” but rather to “Feel free to say ‘Du’ to me.” or “I’m fine with you saying ‘Du’ to me.” In this case “quietly” refers more to a peacefulness of mind, than a quiet utterance. It’s a fixed expression. Jsyk
