wake up this morning and literally the first thought that came into my head was ‘sherlock holmes fooled a ten-year army doctor by LYING ON THE GROUND AND HOLDING HIS BREATH’ i fucking hate that show.

I shouldn’t laugh, but I totally laughed.

I literally predicted almost exactly how it ended up happening and kind of shoved it aside because I was sure I had to be wrong there was no way it was that ridiculous

I wish he’d fallen into the laundry truck.  It would’ve made more sense.

It’s a good thing I don’t watch this show for the razor-sharp plots. 😀

Every time Sherlock says the angle to the laundry truck was too steep I get angry because somebody did the maths during the hiatus and the angle FUCKING WELL WASN’T TOO STEEP

I try to tell myself the reason it’s so weird and bad is because their original “how he did it” got scrapped when they couldn’t put up the scaffolding around Bart’s because of the London riots, which was indeed a thing. Check the ASIB commentary; they even set it up with a story on Sherlock’s paper.

so basically I’m going to blame the london riots for the solution to the Fall being bad

Sounds reasonable.

I’m still pissed off at them for doing Reichenbach at all.  Everybody always does fucking Reichenbach, and it’s bullshit.  It was bullshit the first time, and it never would have happened and shouldn’t have happened if the author was actually trying to write a functional narrative.  It’s a horrible disaster of an event that completely fucks up the one consistent thread that runs through all the Holmes stories (that being Holmes and Watson), and there’s no actual way to make it make sense without a far more significant investment in mending that rupture than anybody has ever been willing to divert from the case stories.

So pretty much it ticks me off that Holmes adaptations keep insisting on including the fucking thing in their versions.
