Yo answer the questions please:
1. What is the reason why your favourite book is your favourite?
Crap, this means I have to pick a favorite book…
Okay, using the Desert Island rule, it’d be Lord of the Rings. Because 1: it’s long, making it hold up to either to a large number of rereads or the emergency need for a fire.
But also because it was my bridge from kid’s stories to adult stories, and I recognized it in my soul as fairy tale, as myth, and I realized when I read it that I would never have to put those things behind me.
2. What was the last Horror Story you have read/ Horror movie you have seen?
Well, it’s neither reading nor a movie, but my most recent horror story was Hannibal.
Or. Weirdly enough, I’ll say IDW’s Transformers comic. Because dude. If those things were humans, that’d be one dark fucking psycho story.
3.If you could Change one historical Event, what would it be?
I would go back…oh, about 18 years now? And kick Bush Sr. and his Congress in the kneecaps till they agreed to loan Russia some fucking money to help them pull out of their economic collapse.
If we had done that, there’s a very good chance they’d be a financially stable ally right now, instead of…whatever the hell Putin’s doing over there, the shady little frog.
4. Is there somebody you admire (historical Person or otherwise)?
So many. Quite a few on this site. Several relatives. It’s hard to judge historical personages, because you usually can’t get a good look at the reality of the choices they made. And that’s really what I admire. People who have the strength and integrity to face the world and the ugly truths inside themselves and make the compassionate, just decisions in hardship and chaos.
5. If you knew the world will end tomorrow, what would you do?
Spend it with friends and family, most likely.
6. The really hard question: Star Wars or Star Trek?
Star Trek.
I love them both, but the vital thing about Trek (the shows, not the new movies) is that it has a vision that I think is always, always worth choosing and fighting for. The world it shows isn’t a perfect future, but it’s a future that dares to believe one day we’ll learn to see each other clearly and embrace each other in all our similarities and differences. IDIC. ^_^
7. If you could travel back in time, where and when you you go?
Oh god. Is ‘everywhere’ an option?
Either ca. 1910, in the same town I grew up, so I could see my great-grandparents and how they lived and what kinds of things they used in daily life and how everything smelled and looked in a world largely devoid of machines or the ability to travel long distances quickly…
Or ancient Rome or Egypt or something, so I could see just HOW vastly the human experience can differ while still being something we can fundamentally recognize (or, you know…maybe not).
8. Which Horror Monster do you fear the most?
The fucking Exorcist demon. I am never watching that movie. Ever. Ever. I don’t even want to hear the audio.
9. Do you have a favourite author?
Probably Terry Pratchett.
10. What annoys you the most about your favourite book/movie/show/whatever (because nothing is perfect)?
Can we stop with all the flirting and kissing and giving the Doctor girlfriends now, please? God, what is it with people being so desperate to hook up every fucking character ever written with a romantic interest?
11. If you could live in any fictionary world, which would it be?
Fictionary! What a wonderful word! 😀
Probably the Discworld. Because despite having actual magic and for-real gods and monsters waiting on the other side of reality to devour humanity’s sanity…it’s fundamentally a world I recognize, in the hands of a man with vast compassion, a wise clarity of sight and a magnificently dry sense of humor.
