Instead of watching Supernatural, ya’ll should be reading the Cal Leandros novels by Rob Thurman (don’t let the name fool you; lady sci-fi writer!) is fucking excellent. It’s pretty dark, but has the humor and brotherly shit we’ve come to love about Supernatural with actual queer representation and kickass ladies that don’t get killed off to further the plot of da menz (at least as far as I’ve seen; I’m so behind since I hit my reading dry spell D=. Spoilers: Kind of excepting their mom in that) Did I mention the main characters are of Romani descent with some freaky supernatural shit going on with the youngest sibling and an overprotective, overworked big bro? Or that the romantic interest of said big bro is a kick-ass vampire lady named Promise who reminds me a lot of Kanaya from Homestuck? Or that they’re friends with a puck who’s in a monogamous relationship with a creature biblical angels were based off of? Or that there’s a prevalent mixed race character who’s also a Seer? Or that there’s a werewolf family? And troll serial-murderers, dark elves, a whole shit ton of awesomeness?Seriously, it ain’t perfect by a long shot, but it is beautiful. Check it out!
