And I love him so much for that. He tries to do his best at all times, and really puts it all out on the line for everyone and for the ones he love. He is flawed. He is human. Not everyone can be the perfect equalist that everyone demands. I want that, too, but having everyone like that in stories are just not realistic. Not defending some of his actions, but he is an amazing character.

if a character is perfect they would never have a story. they would never grow and change because there would be nothing left for them to do, nowhere for them to go. i want to shake harry sometimes, but mostly i just to put an arm around his shoulders and tell him that everything will be okay (maybe.) i’ll never understand people who become upset by a characters flaws, as if a character believing something is right MAKES it right, as if the writer is somehow trying to justify the flaw. it’s nonsensical. harry is a fantastic character because he’s not perfect and because he has so far left to grow.

I love him.  He can be a bit of an idiot who makes stupid, desperate decisions when it comes down to crunch time, and is still a bit hilariously enamored of big leather coats for a man in his 40s.  But he tries, damn it.  Also, he has adorable pets.  Got to love a man who loves his animals.

Sadly, that has not stopped the books from falling into a somewhat repetitive “every ending has to be bigger and more badass than the last one!” rut.
