First, I would like to say that, as some of you have no doubt noticed, this is a new blog. I have created the blog because I’m afraid of opening myself to being a target of doxxing or bullying if I post about this on my main blog, which is easily linked to my A03 and other fandom spaces that are still safe for me and that I’d like to keep that way. However, there are people who know who I am in fandom and/or real life who know that I am posting this and can vouch for my identity. If you feel comfortable (and I understand if, in this climate, you don’t) please reblog and add a comment saying that you know I am who I say I am. I’m not asking you to vouch for my version of events being 100% correct, only that you know who I am and can vouch for my general character as a conscientious participant in BBC Sherlock fandom. So, who am I? I am The Woman in Green, AKA the Irene cosplayer you may have seen crying on the video footage of the Gender Politics of Fandom panel. This is my story.
“Demanding that individuals who engage in this kind of behavior be banned from cons is not an attempt to silence people who oppose the depiction of rape or child abuse in fanworks. It’s about standing up and saying that doxxing and bullying people with opposing viewpoints is unacceptable behavior and shouldn’t be tolerated. Do not to let let these people hijack this discussion and make it about their viewpoints rather than their behavior.“
