Kakapo fundraiser! If I had a spirit animal, it would absolutely be the kakapo.
The fundraiser is actually a harbinger of good news! There are 126 kakapo in the world today (more than double from 10 years ago). Last year’s breeding season was rough, and in fact they ended up losing a few birds. But this year’s promises to be a banner year, and so the Kakapo Recovery Program is hoping for some assistance to make sure that they have all the equipment they need to take full advantage and protect any baby kakapo that arrive. Here’s to a big honking surge in the kakapo population!
