what if there was a dog library where you could borrow dogs

Many animal shelters need volunteers to take the dogs on regular walks. Even if it’s just ten minutes around the block, it’s a huge help and keeps the dog exercising and out of the loud crowded shelter.

Many shelters have annual or even monthly walking publicity things, where you’ll get a dog with an “adopt me!” vest and take them for a walk in a park somewhere. They always need volunteers.

So like, if you have some free time and are physically able to take a dog for a walk, you can indeed go to a place where you can borrow a dog.

If you aren’t physically able to take a dog for a walk, then shelters are often looking for people who can simply come in to play with and give attention to their animals.  It helps them stay active, well-socialized and just generally feeling like someone loves them.

Or, if getting out at all is difficult for you, you can contribute to the cause by playing with shelter animals over the internet.  Living in a shelter is boring.  Animals need mental stimulation too!
