Clinton officially won the popular vote.
Last night a demagogue force of hate, lies, and intolerance was voted into the Presidency. He wasn’t voted in there because most of America wanted him. This wasn’t a case of hateful and/or willfully ignorant people overcoming us. We won. The fucked up system that makes individual votes meaningless and puts all the decision on some “swing” states put Trump there.
I’m a weird mix of furious and strangely comforted. Comforted because I know the majority was against him. I know the popular vote of America voted against this hatred. There is hope for individuals. There is hope for change on smaller scales.
But it didn’t matter. The house stayed the same largely because most Americans don’t pay attention to the house and the popular vote meant jack shit. We now have a president that the majority didn’t want.
The system is fucked up. We need to change and with a country this large, change needs to start small. Survive, pay attention to local government. All the talk is how the younger generation is growing and the US is becoming more liberal. Show it. Fight back.
Look for candidates who talk about overthrowing the electorate system and do not let the next four years pass without a fight.
