I haven’t bothered associating specific ages with them, but they’d be somewhere in their 20s. Jack’s on the lower end, might be around 21-22. Gabe’s probably a few years older, maybe 26-28. He would’ve needed more time to get a college degree and then work his way up a few ranks. He’s also had slightly more time to get his head together when it comes to adulting.
They didn’t get flung into SEP the minute they signed up, is my thinking.
My hc on the program is that it was voluntary; you had to apply and qualify for it, maybe even get invited to do so.
So they would’ve both had some time in the service first, to prove themselves and stand out among their peers.
I can’t remember and am too lazy to check whether I’ve got Gabriel as a captain or major in that story, but with those time frames in mind, he should probably be a captain. He would need a few more years in service yet before he could qualify as major.
I started writing this before we knew the Omnic Crisis had already begun by the time Jack enlisted. The two of them having already served in wartime would probably change things some. Also, I mean. I am just thoroughly fucking around here. 😀 I’m frankly surprised that it sprang up with as much plot as it did, and let’s be honest: that isn’t much.
