Jack limped to an alleyway and leaned agains the wall with a grunt. The bulk of Reaper’s shotgun spray had gotten him square in the amoured section of his jacket, but enough had missed to hurt like hell. The heavy weave of his shirt had taken the edge off, but he was still bleeding and it burned.
Ana’s voice was in his ear, and Jack keyed off the comm in his mask, slapping down a biotic canister. “Ffffuck,” he hissed softly, checking to see how deep the shot had penetrated.
