Hahaha! That is awesome!
I am currently wrapping up my internship at the end of my master’s degree, which is in Information Management. So, technology, project management, social media, and I fit some information security in there as well. I am right this moment gunning for a job as a program manager at Syracuse University. If I get this, then I will be in charge of administrating either the master’s programs or doctoral programs in the School of Information Studies.
If I don’t get it, then I am going to get in touch with a digital security firm and see if they have any open positions. Which would be rather awesome because they do digital forensics and penetration testing (the thing where you hire them to ninja your security and then tell you what you need to fix; they have actually dressed people in costumes and smuggled people into buildings in shipping containers).
I am NOT doing what I thought I would be 10 years ago—at least not professionally. 10 years ago, I was graduating from Penn State with an English degree, and I thought I was going to be an editor. Well…I do in fact always end up writing and editing documents for whatever job I work, but not so much as my job?
It’s all cool, though. I’m really one of those people whose career plan is more like, “Something that looks like I’d enjoy doing it for several years.”
