I often write in my living room, and am typically most productive after 10 pm, when the rest of the household (one flatmate and two parrots) have gone to bed and nothing is demanding my attention.

The problem is that after I’ve been writing in a certain location for a while, it starts getting stale for me.  I think I build up associations with that spot, and it gets me into a rut.  So every so often I’ll move to a different location.  Somewhere else in the house, usually, but I’ve found that it’s really productive to leave and go somewhere else entirely: a coffee shop, the library…  Best of all is those ‘getaways’ when I go to my grandparents’ house (they don’t have wireless) or on vacation at a cabin or hotel or something.  They really shake things loose for me.
