Reblog if you remember being in fandom BEFORE Livejournal or Fanfiction.net existed.
Seriously, does anyone remember the old LISTSERV and Yahoo mailing lists that floated around more than a decade ago? I feel so…
Hahaha, oh man, yeah. People kept their own archive websites, or put their stuff on a friend’s, and those blessed curators who took it upon themselves to archive and organize the collective ficcing of an entire fandom were hardworking saints among humanity. You chatted on Yahoo!Groups or via email or on IRC or ICQ (oh, IRC, you’re still the best) and webrings were still relevant.
Before that it was Usenet and telnet and published fanzines and almost everything really interesting happened at conventions. But that was before my time.
Random_Nexus: I’m just curious…
