I feel like the BBC Sherlock fandom has spoiled me. Whenever I join a new fandom, I start looking for fic and on AO3, I am met with very small numbers. 3400, or 1350, or even 217. Compared to Sherlock (TV) with over 60,000, it seems like there’s nothing out there anywhere else. Then of course, there’s no Berlynn_Wohl, Emma Grant, PrettyArbitrary, or What_Alchemy. With BBC Sherlock fanfiction, finding something good is no more difficult than sticking your hand in a bag of M&Ms, hoping to get an M&M. Not to say there aren’t amazing writers in small fandoms, I’m just not used to doing the work anymore.
Well, off to try and find rec lists.
I know! I’ve gotten so spoiled!
I’ve been wandering over to some of my other fandoms a bit more lately, and man, all my other fandoms are so ridiculously small, and/or their glory days are already past by the time I find them. And then there’s Sherlock, and now that I know what it’s like I just kind of want to bundle everybody up and take them all with me everywhere I go.
Also, you are terribly sweet. What a starlit company you’ve placed me into there. ;_;
