Seriously, IDW’s Transformers comics are the bomb. They’re Transformers and they also happen to be some of the best sci-fi that’s out there these days.
Also I love how the article calls out the weirdness of having a race of mechanoid aliens with no gender, and yet they almost all somehow manage to look male.
I mean, no gender makes sense for a non-organic race with an asexual form of reproduction (honestly they more or less blossom in fields of glowing energy cores that get harvested and set into bodies built for them), but then why should they all somehow end up looking like human males? Why should most of them even look humanoid at all? (Granted some of them don’t, but there should be more of that.)
I really want robot aliens of all shapes and sizes and weird-ass configurations, and like…what if they all called themselves zhe or something? Or, like, if they didn’t have a pronoun set that translated properly into human languages at all, so you end up with each of them picking the human gender pronouns they happen to like the best. Optimus Prime going around as a she, Bumblebee’s a xir, Megatron’s a they… *wistful sigh*
