Vintage women being badass. You’re welcome.
I need to know what movies these are all from and then I need to watch them all
I recognize Breakfast at Tiffany’s (most of the ones with Audrey Hepburn) and Charade (the other ones with Audrey Hepburn).
“I’m going to do exactly what I please when I please.” – Gilda. I love this movie. Film noir with a female lead (technically the guy’s given top billing, but when you watch it, you know). She’s not always a wonderful person, but she kicks 100 kinds of ass.
“Promise me you’ll never wear black satin or pearls” is from Rebecca.
“He tried to make love to me and I shot him” – The Letter
“Who do you belong to?” “Why, I belong to me.” – You Belong to Me, which is a 1941 romantic comedy I haven’t watched but I bet it’s brimming over with awesomeness like this, since the majority of Hollywood’s film writers at that time were women. (WW II, which is why movies through this period had so much awesomeness from the ladies)
But that quote from Marilyn takes the prize, because I don’t believe that was from a movie. As I remember, that was her actual response to a fan who was being creepy.
