did anyone else notice that the first part of hte new trailer, they list the big disasters in the MCU with a dollar and lives casualty list?

On the right hand side of the screens!

New York:  18.8 Billion Dollars / 74 casualites

Washington DC: 2.8 Billion / 23 casualties

Sokovia: 474 Billion  & 177 casualties

Thanks, Russos – for not glossing over the fact that no, the Avengers would NOT have saved EVERYONE in Sokovia.

ANd also for putting a reasonable scale on these disasters unlike, DCU’s Man of Steel where they just LEVELED New York, and yet still have a very real, tangible effect to these disasters, and the reactions of the governments

Yes!

Honestly, considering what happened in all of those places? That casualty count could have been A LOT worse. If the Avengers /hadn’t/ been there, (with the exception of Sokovia) think of how bad it could have gotten?

That count seems low for DC. Unless they just mean civilian.

Probably they mean only civilians.

Given how we always see the Avengers going out of their way to save people, I’m pretty sure that the point of this is to show that casualty counts are astonishingly low for the scope of these disasters.  No, they couldn’t save everybody in Sokovia, but 177 people out of that entire city?

Also, a casualty count includes those who are significantly injured as well as killed.  Basically if you’re in a condition where you wouldn’t be able to fight, you’re counted as a casualty.  So the number of lives lost is probably even lower.
