But imagine if Jack was the one who blew up Overwatch HQ?
If he’d struggled for years to save Overwatch, to keep it from falling into corruption and bureaucracy and keep it out of the hands of people who wanted to use it for their own agendas. But in the end he saw it was a losing battle, and it was the only thing left that he could do to keep all those weapons, all that tech, all those people from falling into the wrong hands. He decided the world needed Overwatch less than it needed to be protected from what Overwatch could become.
And Gabriel tried to stop him, because he wanted to run Overwatch but he was loyal to it, and he hadn’t drowned in the politics the way Jack had. He hadn’t seen, and so to him, Jack’s leadership just looked shoddy.
And that’s why Gabriel blames him for everything, and why Jack looks at the organization he gave so much of his life to with so much distaste.
