YOU DID THE THING. WITH RODIMUS AND NYON. I’ve never seen anyone talk about and I’m like IT’S AT THE CENTER OF WHO HE IS AND WHY HE’S SUCH A FLAKE. HE’S TERRIFIED OF RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE OF WHAT HE HAD TO DO.
I can’t tell you how much it pleases me to have someone else who yearns for more digging into the importance of Nyon :’)
((small hint: it’s going to be super relevant so I’m glad you’re picking up on it : ) ))
Please excuse me while I touch this post reverently because this is everything important?
I just. They are all so incredibly traumatized. EVERY Cybertronian (except maybe Overlord) is so unfathomably wounded by the war. And the writers I think (I hope) get that? But they have to plot for the long term, and quite rightfully they don’t want to spend all their time dwelling on the damage of the characters. But I HUNGER for a really meaty look into that, into what it’s done on a personal level to our robo-peeps and how they work to heal from it, and also on a societal level because as each of the colonies has a character, that trauma is really the defining characteristic of Cybertron, and the characters from the colonies are slowly learning about this and what it means.
And I am so excited, because I know how good you are at writing that kind of thing and I can already see you laying the groundwork–stuff that’s been touched on in the comics in a lot of cases, but that I can see you lining up to dig into. Like Windblade’s snark and assumptions about the war being the only thing that gets a personal rise out of Starscream (and also letting that self-righteousness be a legitimate fault in a character who is otherwise a genuinely good person). Like Ratchet’s attitude coming, if he’s honest, from his exhaustion at watching endless loss and destruction with, so far, very little payoff.
Like Rodimus and Nyon–and Knock Out’s prurient curiosity about what’s ancient history to him and a very personal atrocity to the people he’s talking with (which is also an interesting consequence of being a race of near-immortals).
Okay, I’ll stop flailing now.
