when he shows up tony recognizes him immediately, even tho this man is 40+ yrs old and greying and much more serious-looking than his rhodey
he blurts out: “we’re still friends?”
“tones. you’re my best friend.”
and tony might be a skinny little runt of a teen but he still almost manages to knock rhodey over when he leaps right into his arms
I can only imagine their unadulterated horror upon finding teen!Tony. They can barely deal with the adult version.
Once the Feels settle, Tony promptly starts making fun of Old Man Rhodes. Rhodey grins like the devil and begins an exhaustive recitation of every embarrassing thing Tony’s done since he turned 18. He has a book. He writes them down. He has lived his life for this moment.
