Some fun McCree facts:
1: Cowboys do in fact still exist. Herds of cows still need to be steered through the large stretches of land that comprise cattle ranches and public grazing land. And the cowboys who do it (although they usually call themselves ‘herders’ now) still wear cowboy hats and chaps and sometimes ponchos, because it’s all real useful gear when you’re out riding a horse through the countryside all day wrangling herds of large animals through sun and weather and tall sharp-edged grass. Some of them even wear guns, because angry wildlife.
2: Jesse, however, is not dressed as a cowboy. He’s dressed as a gunslinger. Specifically he’s dressed as Clint Eastwood from the The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Gunslingers are less extant than cowboys, for probably obvious reasons regarding the legality of shooting people in the streets, but they wore a lot of the same gear because again, weather and horses and sharp plants and stuff.
3: This means that EVEN THOUGH it can be a practical outfit and people do still dress like this, Jesse McCree is every bit the cosplaying cryptid weirdo you always suspected he was.
