Just read a fic where the author built tension in the story with Sherlock acting like a dick and breaking promises he made and blatantly trying to derail from any meaningful conversation about the two of them or their histories or what they want, and the whole ‘But I need the casework! (so basically no relationship when working),’ and basically just did such a good job laying out his manipulative unsupportive suckiness as a romantic partner that when John finally blew up about it, I was CHEERING him for driving Sherlock off.
And then he thought twice and they made up “because it’s wrong to ask him to change,” and I’m just sitting here fuming because FUCK NO, John was right the first time and he should be getting the hell out.
It would be bitchy and ungracious of me to air this in the fic’s comments, right? Yes, it would. *sits and grumbles to self*
