WHY DO PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT VDAY IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE ROMANTIC OR SEXUAL LOVE? DONT YOU LOVE SOMETHING? LIKE KISS YOUR PETS OR SOMETHING FEED YOUR NEOPETS IF YOURE NOT DATING ANYONE EAT SOME CANDY AND FALL IN LOVE WITH YOURSELF
Probably because while that’s conceptually true, people still spend the entire month leading up to it having it crammed down their throat via ads and tv commercials and store decorations and contests and games and memes that it is TOTALLY all about romantic and sexual love and spending a few hundred bucks on roses and chocolates and romantic dinners for your boy/girlfriend and having sex with them all night.
(Oh, generally they’re also supposed to be the opposite gender from you. If you’ve got a same-sex g/b/other-friend or have no interest in dating or marriage or sex or romantic relationships at all, then UR DOING IT RONG.)
So, you know, I don’t tell people who hate Christmas on the grounds of having somebody else’s religion shoved down their throats that it’s unfair of them to be bitter, and I can’t say that I blame people who hate Valentine’s Day on the grounds of their being disgusted by a cultural and media movement that implicitly tells them how they’re supposed to love.
