In one of the most ironic plot twists of my fandom life, I ship Bagginshield but don’t like the porn. No, seriously. I love the T rated stuff, but if it gets heavier than a kiss, I find it really uncomfortable. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?
flowerbedgrl answered: You’re more interested in plot, characterisation and romance then smut? Nothing wrong with that.
No, you don’t understand. I ALWAYS like the smut. I am pretty much in fandom for the smut. I read and write explicit-rated fic almost exclusively, and have for ten years in half a dozen fandoms. I LIKE the plot and romance and good characterization and a build-up to a good sex scene, followed by some fantastic smut. (Those aren’t mutually exclusive.) So this is a strange and new experience for me. 😛
helens78-cat answered: It feels nuts, doesn’t it? I want Thorin gen and Bilbo & Thorin friendship fic, but it still feels like a ship to me!
I know, right?
bendingsignpost answered: I am right there with you.
This is why your fic was so awesome. 🙂
reluctantabandon answered: THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU!! the Tolkien universe is a very non-sexualized one in canon. Hmmm, maybe you just need really GOOD porn. 🙂
I can’t say I’ve read any very good porn yet, TBH. But I’m really having a hard time imagining it, and that had never been a problem for me before in any fandom.
devbasaa answered: This! I’m having the same problem, Key (the_green_key) & I were just emailing about the same issue. It’s very unexpected for us long-time fen
Right, that’s the issue. I’ve never before wanted to ship a couple without wanting explicit fic. I’m scratching my head here.
This pretty much summarizes my Bagginshield feels.
Bilbo’s so little! It feels a bit…indecent.
