I hope you’ve seen some of the blogged responses you’ve got under your Johnlock, not just for fans anymore, thing on different kinds of love, because they’re exactly what I’ve been trying to say for so long. Of course a totally valid interpretation of the show is extremely clearly and wonderfully gay, but these other people provide a different perspective and I just hope you saw them. Have a nice day :D

If John is the case Sherlock needs to solve and it’s the scene with Anderson that comes up in the train scene when he’s going to apologize, then maybe that’s their way of showing us that he’s going to take Anderson’s route to get John back. Anderson staged a crime scene to get Sherlock’s attention; he was flashy. Sherlock was, too, so he could get John’s attention.

My question to you is, why are you defending the heterosexual staus-quo? A thing that does not need a single point of defending? Does not need an argument in its favor. You are still for all intents and purposes, telling people they are free to ignore queerness and think it doesn’t exist, contrary to one of your last posts. The heterosexual reading, the platonic reading, the friendship reading doesn’t need defending. How about we defend some of the other kinds for once?

Do you honestly think this episode is as far as the writers will go with their relationship? I’m not expeting anything as blatant as snogging (I have to be realistic) but after two series of hints and, let’s be honest, queerbaiting we get a massive step. Like you said yourself, it’s in there, it’s in the text. Also, as much as I want to be hopeful and optimistic I cannot shake the fear that some firece backpedalling might take place at some point.

How sad for you to not realize that sometimes friends (platonic/same sex) really can be this close. it doesn’t happen that often perhaps – only once in my life and she was my friend until the day she died (and I was there when she died) – we had bonded like kitten decades before and had an extraordinary close relationship – with no romance. I have other close friends, none like her and I miss her daily. It does happen. It is not impossible to be impossibly close without romantic feeling.

I just read that post on queerbaiting and I’m actually laughing. Sorry, I’m really trying not to be rude but that post was (to me) beyond ludicrous. Holmes & Watson have a very strong male friendship, often to referred to in writings about the canon as a romantic friendship. I’m a gay man. I have a straight male friend who people often think I’m in a relationship with, we’re not. I think it’s more homophobic to claim a male friendship is queerbaiting as it feels very “backs to the walls”.

Hi! I don’t think the BBC are afraid of showing explicit queer relationships. There are enough examples, just look at something as mainstream as Eastenders … Nor have the writers of Sherlock ever denied the homoerotic undertones. And why can’t it stay just that? I think Sherlock and John’s relationship is pretty much perfect the way it is. Sex would only ruin it, like it always does. No matter if it’s 2 men, 2 women or a man and a woman … Just my opinion. (And I’m no homophobe at all.)
